How to Detect Symptoms of Stress

Symptom of Stress

Did you know that crossing your arms is one of many symptoms of stress? That simple gesture tells others to keep their distance.

Facial twitches, jumpy legs, are other signs of stress you may not be aware of.

When you relax your body, stress is released from tensed up nerves and muscles. Your entire arm may suddenly jump, a sure sign of stress release.

Emotional symptoms of stress

Your subconscious mind contains a mine field of sensitive emotional issues that you literally guard with your life.

When even just one of those issues is triggered your body contracts and assumes a protective posture.

Depression is symptom of stress. An overstressed mind/body functions poorly resulting in decreased performance levels in all areas of life.

Physically, your libido, sports and leisure activities are impaired; mentally your acuity and powers of concentration decline and relationships are seriously strained; and emotionally you are either too highly charged, or energy depleted and often on the verge of tears.

It is your reaction to stressors that strains your nervous system and makes you sick.

Exceptions to this rule would be individuals trained in martial arts who have mastered a high degree of mind and body control. Others who live primarily in higher states of consciousness may be beyond such automatically triggered reactions.

Road Rage...

Losing control of your emotions while driving in busy traffic is a sure sign of stress. You may think that a mild form of impatience with other drivers is OK. And you may be right, but if your feelings of anger accelerate to "road rage" then you are straining your nervous system.

Physical pain and illness...

Physical pain and illness are the result of short and long term environmental and emotional stress that has accumulated in your central nervous system.

Negative thinking...

Negative thinking packed with emotional energy is stressful to your body.

The average person thinks about 100,000 thoughts a day and most of them are useless regrets of the past, or worries about the future. It literally wears the body out and makes you old before your time.

Newspaper and magazine headlines

How do you react to sensational headlines in print media?

If you experience intense feelings of sadness, anger, or even super excitement those are signs of stress that are overtaxing your nervous system.

Simple observation without high or low feelings does not harm your body.

What to do about it...

The best way that I know to reduce stress and improve your overall health is regular practice of meditation - particularly the Ishayas Ascension.

Or if you still need more motivation, you will find that at causes of stress.
