Hi, my name is Brenda, My recovery from chronic stress and anxiety is just one of the benefits of meditation I have enjoyed, and without doubt the most important for me. It was about nine years ago that I was introduced to meditation. It was the solution I had been searching for most of my life – a natural stress relief technique that worked. I used to be so uptight that the slightest criticism would set me off – I was like a ticking bomb. I was so ashamed of my overly reactive behavior that I became very good at containing it. Instead, the bomb went off inside of me. Most of the time, I felt like there was a roller coaster speeding around inside my gut. Suppressing chronic stress and anxiety is stressful in itself. If it is true that 80 - 90% of all illness and disease is caused by stress, then I’d say that I must have been flying well under the radar. I rarely got so sick that I had to take time off work. And besides, with so many activities on the go - business, home and family, as well as pleasure, I certainly did not have time to be sick. At the golden age of 68 years, it is evident that chronic stress has affected my body because sometimes I experience physical pain that prevents me from dancing more than one or two times a week. But overall I feel wonderful most of the time. I am familiar with depression as well, which was an obvious symptom of prolonged chronic stress. Just once, I somehow allowed myself to sink into lowest of the lows in depression. I vowed never to go there again. Life has to be better than this...
In spite of all the doom and gloom, I was always able to see the silver lining. I had an idea that there must be a good reason for the way my life was going. I knew, at some deeper level within me, there was something better waiting for me so I kept searching and trying different stress management techniques to overcome my chronic stress. From my present calm and peaceful perspective it all seems overly dramatic. But, it certainly explains why I feel so driven to get my story out to as many people as possible. I know that I can help those of you who are sick and tired of feeling overwhelmed in stressful situations. Miraculous discovery... My discovery of meditation was nothing short of miraculous. Meditation literally saved my life. The benefits of meditation have, quite literally, improved every aspect of my life. The chronic stress and anxiety have been replaced with awesome peace and joy. Every day I feel young and vibrantly alive. My life has never been better. And, I laugh a lot too – not because the text books tell me I should because it is good for me, but because now that is just how I feel. So my laughter bursts forth of its own accord. Other factors that contributed to my recovery... Before I learned how to meditate, I had already acquired a life time of self-help knowledge through books and psychotherapy. I had trained and qualified as a personal life coach and successfully operated my home based counseling business for two years. Knowledge I had, life experience I had, and yet in spite of all of that, I still suffered from the internal pain of chronic stress. It was only with meditation that I was able to move beyond the internal struggling. After learning just one of four of the Ishayas' techniques, I experienced immediate natural stress relief. That was proof enough for me that the

would change my life. Life just keeps getting better and better... Eventually, after two years of daily meditation, I wanted more. So I enrolled in a six month self-mastery course taught by the Ishaya monks. Then I learned how to teach the

to others. In hindsight, I now see that I was being guided every step of the way to end up where I am today; loving every moment on this journey that never ends, and wanting to share my knowledge and experience for the benefit of others. Your path can be easier than mine... Now, please don’t get the idea that for you to thoroughly enjoy the benefits of meditation you have to take the same path that I took. That just isn’t the case.
