Hi there, CSPP participants, I hope you had a fun, relaxing and productive summer. Christmas Day is fast approaching. How is your gremlin awareness now? Don't worry, keep laughing, and remember, take nothing seriously! Take a look at your Successfully Aborted Gremlins now. You are doing a great job at preventing Murphy's Law (whatever can go wrong, will go wrong) from disturbing your peace at Christmas. Are you remembering to personalize your checklists? Christmas Stress Prevention Continue to be on the lookout for and pick up Christmas and hostess gifts when you are out and about. Don't skip over the true, and often hilarious Christmas misadventure stories. Let them motivate you to take action now. The Gremlin of Christmas Baking Gremlin Havoc Story It’s Christmas day and guests have been coming and going all day. I’m worried that I may run out of festive treats and snacks. Store-bought Christmas fruit cake is sliced and arranged nicely on a festive plate. I notice, with a tinge of guilt, that I have forgotten to put doilies on the serving plates. Another oversight! Then I remember years ago how Christmases were so wonderful. I share stories of past Christmases with my guests – about how I always made delicious flaming traditional plum pudding. But then I always started in September. Last September, Christmas hadn’t even entered my mind. Too busy! Memories of the past, combined with feelings of guilt for not being as ambitious this year, pulled me down, emotionally and energetically. Next Christmas Day will be different.
Christmas Stress Prevention OK, Buck up! The past is gone. You are on the plan now. It is still only September and you have already accomplished so much. You have more time now to do the things you really love. You choose. No pressure. Do you want to make your own delicious Christmas fruit cake and/or plum pudding? Or, not! If you really don’t want to go to the trouble, you could buy them, pour on the brandy – a little each month – and still impress your guests with flaming pudding. It’s entirely up to you.
Be on the lookout for the little things that add a touch of class to any occasion, like doilies and candles. YOU GO, CHIEF! Whatever you decide is just perfect. The Gremlin of Outdoor Christmas Decorations Gremlin Havoc Story The weather outside is not just frosty, there is a blizzard on its way. It’s snowing now, in our part of the country. Once again we have left the task of putting up our outdoor Christmas decorations a little late. Our outdoor lights on the trees and hedges, as well as our front porch and windows, are always admired by our neighbors at Christmas time. Brrrr! Well, up the lights must go. I’m really glad that we don’t have a Santa with his reindeer to set up on the roof. Next year, we’ll do this earlier on a warm day in the Fall. Christmas Stress Prevention Outdoor Christmas decorations can be put in place now, while the weather is still tolerable. Better now than later, when it may be snowing in some parts of Canada, and even in Vancouver, the heavy rainfalls are not yet keeping people indoors. Of course, if you are basking in the warm sun at this time of year your warm glowing thoughts will be very much appreciated. The lights do not have to be turned on until closer to Christmas, but at least you will have the job done.
The sooner the better and much easier if you inject some fun into it.
