Successfully Aborted Gremlin Report

Congratulations!

Every task you complete throughout the year means one more aborted gremlin and less surprise attacks by Christmas Day gremlins.

You are doing great! You are emotionally, mentally and spiritually prepared for whatever presents itself, not only on Christmas Day, but in all aspects of your life.

Go ahead and bask in the glow of your accomplishments listed below.

Note: If you added tasks to your to do lists remember to include your accomplishments on this aborted gremlin report.

Aborted Gremlin Report for Each Month

January

  • Christmas cards, thank you cards, invitations - purchased and stored
  • Christmas decorations, Santa hats, markers and labels - replenished and stored
  • Christmas gifts and stocking stuffers - purchased and packed away
  • Christmas tree ornaments, and lights – replaced, purchased and packed away
  • Christmas wrapping and accessories purchased and packed away
  • Hostess gifts - purchased and packed away

February

  • Kitchen tools - found, and/or replaced
  • Small kitchen appliances – repaired/purchased.
  • Storage containers – large for gifts and wrapping; small for food
  • Workshop, or tool kit - complete with high quality tools

March - August

  • Fireplace - clean, in good repair and working
  • Kitchen accessories checked, list prepared and purchasing has begun
  • Smoke/fire detector - easily and quickly disabled and enabled
  • Table linen is washed, ironed, protected and stored
  • Towels and other festive linen washed and stored

September

  • Baking – Plum Pudding/Christmas cake
  • Outdoor decorating has been completed and ready to turn on.
  • Glassware; juice, water, liquor and wine replenished

October

  • Christmas baking, cake, pudding, cookies, tarts, underway or completed
  • Christmas cards are all, or partially, ready for mailing, postage purchased
  • Pots, pans and casserole dishes, with lids, are replenished
  • Pot-luck dishes prepared and frozen
  • Entertaining for holiday season in planning stage
  • Kitchen appliances in excellent repair, extras arranged; knives sharpened
  • Guest participation in the planning stage (see Character Roles and Tasks)

November

  • Chairs for extra seating at dinner are cleaned
  • Children’s program is organized
  • Christmas cards are ready to go in the mail
  • Dining table extensions checked, clean
  • Fireplace, tested and working.
  • Wood and newspaper replenished.
  • Butane lighter is handy for fireplace and candle lighting
  • Gifts for home, and hostesses; purchased, wrapped and stored
  • Gifts for out-of-town are wrapped and ready to be sent
  • Last minute gifts are purchased, wrapped and stashed away
  • Music; your favorite Christmas CD's are organized
  • Christmas Day character roles have been assigned and accepted
  • Invitations, written, mailed, emailed or phoned
  • Santa hats have been labeled
  • Table and chairs (extras) with cloths and napkins arranged

December

Weeks 1 and 2

  • Christmas plant has been purchased
  • Decorations (indoor) are completed
  • Decorations (outdoor) are on and being admired by neighbors
  • Furniture has been rearranged to make room for the tree and beverage bar
  • Grocery lists are prepared
  • Guests have been confirmed
  • House is clean
  • Non-perishable food and beverages have been purchased
  • Silverware is glowing
  • Tree has been cut or bought and put up in its agreed upon location
  • Turkey has been ordered
  • Windows are cleaned and polished

Weeks 3 and Christmas Week

  • Dusting has been completed
  • Groceries are purchased and refrigerated
  • Ice cubes are purchased and in the freezer, or they are being brought by a guest
  • Music CD's are organized

Christmas Day

Merry Christmas! Chief!

Today is your day to shine!

Take nothing seriously. Nothing is more important than your Peace and Joy. Your guests will have more fun if you have fun with them.

You can be proud of your aborted gremlin accomplishments throughout the year. Even if the odd gremlin shows up today, you are more than prepared to handle it.

Just remember to stay present and laugh in the face of adversity.

The only tasks you have today are those you assigned to yourself!
